San Francisco has a plethora of health gems spread out around the city. This special guide has been designed to share with you some of my personal favorites, new discoveries and older classics I simply couldn't leave off the list. ENJOY!
Seed + Salt
Small but mighty, this modern café serving organic, vegan and gluten free fare is a must for SF health hipsters. Proud of their Northern Californian roots, the team at Seed + Salt promises you honest, delicious food that your body will appreciate. Try their signature Beet Burger and tasty Taco Salad. There's also a mouth watering “Hot Plate” special, which is currently flavor-packed Spaghetti Squash w/ Buckeye Veggie Balls + fresh tomato sauce.
Nourish Café is 100% plant-based and uses organic ingredients to create delicious, wholesome and healthy foods. Their mission is to help you eat healthier and feel amazing through a natural, plant-based diet. Nourish Café proudly serves everything you could possibly need: salads, wraps, sandwiches, toasts, acai bowls, smoothies and juices. YUM – give them a try.
New to the Hayes Valley neighborhood, Little Gem serves seasonal breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week, as well as juices, smoothies, and tea by SongTea. What’s truly important is that the team cares deeply about where they source their food, how it's grown and who grows it. So you can enjoy your meal with peace of mind knowing it’s of the highest quality. A nutritious selection of soups, salads and other healthy dishes can be found here, such as the “King of Hayes” Chef’s Plate: delicious and perfectly balanced King Salmon on a bed of red quinoa, with olives, almonds, wilted spinach, and a zesty lemon vinaigrette.
SF’s brand new healthy eatery, As Quoted, offers seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine to the Presidio Heights neighborhood. Offerings include a menu of satisfying salads (I love the Chinese chicken) and open-faced sandwiches with gluten-free bread (BLT and Breakfast versions are favorites because of the bacon of course), luscious veggie smoothies (go for the green), Happy Moose Cold Pressed Juice and Tonics, daily bone broth-based soups, and Andytown Coffee with alternative “milk” options. So pop on in, check out the recently renovated and ultra modern space, and nourish your body with all these healthy goodies.
Alternative Apparel is the place to go for comfortable, stylish and organic lounge + active wear. The business is 100% committed to creating sustainable and innovative products responsibly, by respecting people and the planet. They specialize in modern basics for both women and men, as well as a selection of accessories.
